HISTORY AND AIMS OF THE CLUB |
| |
Series One Club was formed in 1979 by three enthusiasts who thought there was a need for some sort of organisation to cater for those interested in early Land Rovers, as a result the club came into existence and is now one of the largest if not the largest Land Rover club in the world with over 2000 members. The club aims to provide a means of communication between members and to help with the sourcing of spare parts relevant to keep these early vehicles in working condition. Another important role the Club undertakes is to try and help with research about the historical information concerning these vehicles and subsequent restoration. Most of these aims are carried out in articles published in the club newsletter known as "The Legend". The Club has a network of area representatives who may be contacted by members to find out what is going on in their area, they are usually able to help out with any problems that occur and can help with local sourcing of spare parts. For more detailed information relating to Early Land Rovers the Club have appointed Technical Officers who specialise in particular models. Throughout the year the club has representatives who attend a number of shows around England and Abroad who act as a focus for members to meet each other sociably and discuss topics relating to Land Rovers. These events can be found in the Events page of this site and are updated on a monthly basis. Members wishing to know more about events that they were unable to attend can usually find articles published in the "The Legend" to that effect. Members are also encouraged to bring their vehicles to shows no matter what condition for display on Club Stands. Lately the club has undertaken to have remanufactured certain parts (see Club Shop) for Land Rovers which have become difficult to obtain or become expensive to acquire. We hope to be able to expand this service to members even more in the future. Exhaust valves are currently on sale to enable vehicles to run on unleaded fuel and will become all the more important as leaded fuel is phased out.
